February

This past month we had our second Dr's appointment. Everything continues to look good. We had a second ultrasound and got to see the baby moving around! It was sooo cool. Our Dr said this ultrasound was to check the thickness of the neck which can detect Down's Syndrome. She said everything looked normal.
This is Dr. Melnik

Last Friday for class, our teacher, Irina, took us to a Museum. We went with our class mate Sara, and a girl from another class, Christina. The museum had art and artifacts from different countries. We then went to eat lunch together.

The metro

Today when I took Lilly out, a man started making a noise at Lilly to get her attention. She responded to him and he started talking to me. When I told him I didn't understand his question, he started speaking English to me. He told me that I looked like just like a Ukrainian girl and that I was like an undercover spy. I thought it was really funny. I guess to a lot of people I may look Ukrainian, but unfortunately they can still tell I'm a foreigner when I start speaking. I'm sure I'll always have an accent, but I hope some day it's better.

In House Dr. Visit

I was fighting illness for about two weeks before I decided to call a doctor. I'm not begging for sympathy, but I wanted to share this interesting experience:

Doctor's can make house calls here. Plus, when you hear someone's called an ambulance, it doesn't mean it's as serious as it is in the US, where we're from. Matter of fact, sometimes the doctors make their house calls in the ambulance!

So, being concerned that I had something I didn't want to pass to Leesh and the baby, we invited the doctor to the house. I had to miss an hour of school for my visit. I rang him up and the consultation took place in our living room. He used the light of the sun coming through the window to look down my throat. He checked my lungs through the stethoscope, and wrote me a script in the back of my Psalms notebook.

Antibiotics are OTC here, so I'm on a regimen of Аугментин (Amoxicillin). He also gave me handy tips for clearing out sinus cavities with a salt/soda/iodine solution. I know that's more than what you wanted to know, but I wanted to tell you about my in-home doctor visit.
